Are You Ready To Be Parafied?

Are there really ghosts at the Josephine Hotel?  Yes!  As a bonafide scaredy cat, I will unashamedly tell you I do believe in ghost and I do believe they are in this building known as the former Josephine Hotel in downtown Union Springs.  But of what I have been told they are for the most part "friendly ghosts" and maybe a bit mischievous and sort of playful.

Joyce and Allen have owned the building for about 12 years.  In that time they have had more than one experience with the resident ghosts.  Not in a bad way, but more like they tend to move things from where they were, make noise, misplace things, and various other oddities.  They even play a few notes on the old piano on the 2nd floor.

Since I've been associated with the owners and the hotel, I can say I've only heard a few noises that may have been hard to explain. But when I was invited to visit the 2nd floor for the first time and was told about the ghosts I can tell you I was petrified to go.  I did get a sensation that something was there.  Strange thing for me, is I kind of like exploring up there now that I've been several times.  It's a thrilling adrenaline rush and you just feel like you want to go and learn more about it.

The owners, as well as myself, have been asked if the ghost are anyone specific?  Did anyone ever die at the hotel?  Well, yes and no.  We don't know specifically who they are or how many.  But there have been times in it's 134 year history where there were occasions that more than one person may have died here. It's logical if you think about it.  Someone traveling checks in, gets sick, has a heart attack, or an aneurysm and dies.  Nothing abnormal about that.  But a murder?  I have no proof of that.  But possible, yes.

A while back, Paranormal Investigator, Faith Seraphin, of the Alabama Paranormal Research Team, investigated the Josephine Hotel as well as the Paula Jail, The Courthouse, and The City Cemetery.  All were found to have significant paranormal activity. All of those locations, including the Josephine Hotel are found in the book, Haunted Alabama Black Belt.  Faith is the Author of the portion that pertains to our area of the Black Belt.

Below you can see the images they got during one of Faith's  investigations with her team at the City Cemetery, located within walking distance of the Josephine.

This is the illuminated statue in the center of the City Cemetery.

In this photo taken during one of the Ghost Hunts here at the Josephine with Faith and her team.  This is the Grand Staircase on the 2nd Floor.  More than once, paranormal activity was detected on the staircase.

This image is an infrared photo of one of the rooms upstairs. I borrowed this one off of Faith's Facebook Page.  Someone on her page commented that she could see two ghost in the photo.  At first I didn't see them but then upon closely studying the photo I saw what the person said she saw.  She wrote that she saw an indian on the left wall and a white oppressor on the other. If you will look between the sofa and radiator you will see a man standing there.  The top of his head near the top of the photo.  You see the outline of his eyes and nose.  The other man is shorter and is just above the chair by the window.  He looks like he's wearing overalls and is leaning against the window.  It is spooky.

So how would you like to go on a Ghost Hunt with The Alabama Paranormal Research Team? You can.

The next hunt is coming up this Saturday, April 12th at 7:00pm. You actually get to hunt with the team of experts, use their equipment and you get to hunt at THREE locations all for one price.  You get to hunt at the Pauly Jail, The City Cemetery, and The Josephine Hotel.  The hunt lasts 4 hours.  From 7pm to Midnight.  You will have the absolute time of your life!  I am including the information about the hunt below:

I have been told there are still a few spots available so hurry to book.  Here is the link to get registered and your tickets:

If you've ever thought you might like to try something like this, you should try it now.  It's like one of those "Bucket List" kind of things and it is sure to be an experience you'll never forget.

So, whaddaya think?  Are you ready to be "Parafied"?
